Academy Arts in Action (AAA)

We invite all parents/teachers/students/community members who are interested in supporting the fine arts at Woodstock Academy to join Academy Arts in Action. AAA annually funds scholarships and sponsors enrichment activities through membership and fundraising.
Adventure Club

The Adventure Club is an opportunity for students to learn more about what there is to do outdoors and experience things they wouldn’t normally be able to do. Activities include rock climbing, whitewater rafting and so much more!
Amnesty International (AI)

AI is a worldwide organization committed to the prevention of human rights abuse and promoting awareness of issues such as torture and censorship. Some activities include writing letters to governments worldwide, appealing to them to protect the rights of citizens. Students also attend regional conferences where they work with students from other regions.
Bible Club

Woodstock Academy's Bible Club mission is to empower WA's students to make a positive impact on the community by following in the footsteps of Christ. The group meets every morning for fellowship and prayer, and every Thursday after school for Bible study. Room B217. (Not school sponsored)
Channel 17 & 97.5 Radio Station

Any student interested in getting involved with Woodstock Academy television station and/or the radio station are welcome to join the Channel 17 production team. Students are needed to work “behind the scenes” (camera and audio) and in front of the camera. You could even produce your own radio show! All are welcome Monday-Friday beginning at 2:30 in H113. See Mr. Parkinson in H113.
Chess Club

The Chess Club will provide instruction in chess play and notation with an opportunity for students to compete against each other. Strategies and tactics will be reviewed. Internet chess will be explored as well.
Climbing Club

The Climbing Club is for anyone who is interested in climbing and/or belaying. Woodstock Academy's climbing facilities include many indoor and outdoor elements, which challenges the beginner and expert climbers.
Deep End Literary Magazine

WA’s literary magazine promotes literary & visual arts. 2 magazines & 2 pamphlets are published per year. Staffed by WA students and open to all WA students.

Diversity Club

Students and advisors will work to create activities, assemblies, and fundraisers that broaden awareness of the importance of diversity in its many forms and to foster a feeling of tolerance in our school. Open to all interested students!
Earthsave

Earthsave is open to all students who are interested in promoting awareness about the environment and acting to protect the environment at school, in town, and worldwide. Solutions on a small scale are also explored, so students will know what they can do to contribute.
Fencing Club

The Fencing Club welcomes all students who are interested in the art of foil fencing. You need not be a great athlete to be a competent fencer: your brain is at least as important as your brawn in this sport! In our club, we will strive to master the basics of the sport, fence for fun and competition amongst ourselves.
Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA)

The WA Gay-Straight Alliance promotes tolerance, knowledge, understanding and the appreciation of diversity in our community. GSA’s primary objective is to contribute to a safe environment for all students. GSA provides students with a non-threatening atmosphere in which they meet and talk about issues relating to sexual orientation. Its intent is to diminish prejudice in the school community through education.
Intramural Sports

Like sports but not able to join a team sport? Then get involved with intramural sports! Tues. & Thurs. 2:30-3:30. Activities include: kickball, flag football, team handball, volleyball, dodgeball, wiffleball, ultimate Frisbee, ping pong, badminton, pickleball.
Karate Club

Open to students and staff of all ability and experience levels. It is intended to be an introduction to the martial arts for people with no prior experience, and a place for people with martial arts experience to get together to work out and share their knowledge of techniques specific to the styles they study. Mr. Telford holds a first degree black belt in Tang Soo Do, a Korean karate, and is currently studying Enshin, a Japanese close-fighting style.
Ocean Bowl Club

Ocean Bowl Club is open to all students interested in science, particularly in oceanography. The main objective is to prepare for the Ocean Bowl competition held at the University of Rhode Island Bay Campus. Teams of 5 students compete against other teams from CT & RI schools.
Operation Day’s Work (ODW)

ODW is a national organization that benefits one cause in a country per year. ODW stresses an understanding between youth in the developed country and youth in the developing world. Members volunteer their time within the school and local communities to raise money for a selected country.
Yoga Club

Yoga Club is open to all students at Woodstock Academy! It is an after-school club where students learn and practice yoga together. Generally, the group starts at a basic/beginner level and progresses throughout the year. All levels are welcome and more advanced students are encouraged to lead the practice. The focus is on stress relief, physical flexibility and strength, and overall physical and emotional wellness
Peer Helpers Network (PHN)

PHN is a program focused on “students helping students” to make a positive community. PHN members meet 2x a month and are involved in a variety of programs such as freshmen activities, the regional PHN conference, Local Prevention Council, among many other things
Student Outreach Services (S.O.S)

A volunteer program where “Student volunteers make a difference locally & globally.” Volunteer opportunities include such things as Relay for Life, food drives, raising money for local children, sending supplies to orphanages in Africa, providing campus tours and much more!
Unified Basketball (January- March)

Unified Basketball pairs volunteer students with special athletes to prepare for a tournament at NFA. Practices take place 3x a week prior to the event. Open to ALL WA students regardless of athletic ability.

The purpose of Council is to act as a student representative organization and to use student body opinions for the benefit of the school and community. The council meets with administration to discuss issues of school community concern and organizes various community service activities. Representatives are elected from grades 10-12 in the spring and grade 9 in the fall. Officers are elected in April and overlap the school year. A number of at-large members are appointed to the council each year.
