Healthful Living: Students will make connections between dance and healthful living

Note: Grade level is indicated in the 4th digit in the standard number
GRADESPRE-KINDERGARTEN thru 4
01.1.6.0.1 Students will identify at least three personal goals to improve themselves as dancers
01.1.6.0.2 Students will describe the skeleton and how it works in simple terms
01.1.6.0.3 Students will explain how healthful practices (such as nutrition, safety) enhance their ability to dance, citing multiple examples.
GRADES5 thru 8
01.1.6.5.1 Students will identify at least three personal goals to improve themselves as dancers and steps they are taking to reach those goals
01.1.6.5.2 Students will identify major muscle groups and how they work together to produce movement
01.1.6.5.3 Students will create their own warm-up and discuss how that warm-up prepares the body and mind for expressive purposes
01.1.6.5.4 Students will explain strategies to prevent dance injuries.
GRADES9 thru 12
01.1.6.9.1 Students will reflect upon their own progress and personal growth during their study of dance
01.1.6.9.2 Students will create and demonstrate movement sequences which stretch and strengthen the main muscle groups
01.1.6.9.3 Students will analyze historical and cultural images of the body in dance and compare these to images of the body in contemporary media
01.1.6.9.4 Students will effectively communicate how lifestyle choices affect the dancer.
