Acting: Students will act by developing, communicating and sustaining characters

Note: Grade level is indicated in the 4th digit in the standard number
GRADESPRE-KINDERGARTEN thru 4
01.3.2.0.1 Students will imagine and clearly describe characters, their relationships and their environments
01.3.2.0.2 Students will use variations of locomotor and nonlocomotor movement and vocal pitch, tempo and tone for different characters
01.3.2.0.3 Students will assume roles (based on personal experience and heritage, imagination, literature and history) in classroom dramatizations.
GRADES5 thru 8
01.3.2.5.1 Students will analyze dramatic text to discover, articulate and justify character motivation
01.3.2.5.2 Students will invent character behaviors based on the observation of interactions, ethical choices and emotional responses of people
01.3.2.5.3 Students will use acting skills (such as sensory recall, concentration, breath control, diction, body alignment, control of isolated body parts) to develop characterizations that reflect artistic choices
01.3.2.5.4 Students will in an ensemble, interact as the invented characters
GRADES9 thru 12
01.3.2.9.1 Students will analyze the physical emotional and social dimensions of characters found in dramatic texts from various genres and media
01.3.2.9.2 Students will compare and demonstrate acting techniques and methods from a variety of periods and styles; and
01.3.2.9.3 Students will in an ensemble, create and sustain characters.
