Applying History: Students will recognize the continuing importance of historical thinking and historical knowledge in their own lives and in the world in which they live

Note: Grade level is indicated in the 4th digit in the standard number
GRADESPRE-KINDERGARTEN thru 4
08.1.4.0.1 Students will exhibit curiosity and pose questions about the past when presented with artifacts, records or other evidence of the past
08.1.4.0.2 Students will seek historical background when confronted with problems and issues of the past, as well as of today's world and their own lives
08.1.4.0.3 Students will be active learners at cultural institutions, such as museums and historical exhibitions
08.1.4.0.4 Students will display empathy for people who have lived in the past
08.1.4.0.5 Students will recognize relationships between events and people of the past and present circumstances, concerns and developments.
GRADES5 thru 8
08.1.4.5.1 Students will initiate questions and hypotheses about historic events being studied
08.1.4.5.2 Students will describe and analyze, using historical data and understandings, the options which are available to parties involved in contemporary conflicts or decision making
08.1.4.5.3 Students will be active learners at cultural institutions such as museums and historical exhibitions
08.1.4.5.4 Students will display empathy for people who have lived in the past
08.1.4.5.5 Students will describe relationships between historical subject matter and other subjects they study, current issues and personal concerns.
GRADES9 thru 12
08.1.4.9.1 Students will initiate questions and hypotheses about historic events they are studying
08.1.4.9.2 Students will describe and analyze, using historical data and understandings, the options which are available to parties involved in contemporary conflicts of decision making
