Spanish 2 continues the development of the four communication skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing as well as the five C's of foreign language learning (i.e. communication, cultures, connections, comparisons, and communities).

At this level, emphasis is placed on the practical use of basic skills. Subject matter to be covered includes vocabulary, grammar, syntax, and idiomatic expressions pertaining to: people and places, time, school, health, cultural events, family life, seasonal recreation, travel, daily activities, food and dining customs, greetings and salutations, nationalities; numbers-ordinal and cardinal; definite and indefinite articles; adjectives; present, preterite, imperfect, future, conditional, and progressive tenses of regular and irregular verbs; direct and indirect object pronouns, prepositions; parts of speech; possession adjectives; geography; use of auxillary verbs; gender and number agreement; a continuation of the study of the products, practices, and perspectives of the Spanish-speaking world.

All Spanish II students will:

-- Listen to the target language via videos, cd's, and music,
-- Create a collage about personal identities,
-- Express feelings and opinion in oral and written form,
-- Read, summarize, and discuss information regarding the Hispanic and Spanish culture,
-- Give oral presentations (assigned projects),
-- Participate in grammar and vocabulary-building activities,
-- Create thematic-based vocabulary and/or cultural projects,
-- Role play real life situations,
-- Create and present theme-based mini-skits in the target language,
-- Review Spanish I vocabulary and grammar.

After-school tutoring is offered on assigned days by the Spanish National Honor Society and teachers.
