24.0 INFORMATION & TECHNOLOGY LITERACY

24.0.1.9.4 -- Students will search print, non-print and digital resources within and outside the school, independently.

24.0.1.9.5 -- Students will determine a course of action that demonstrates the selection of appropriate strategies and resources for accomplishing a task, independently.

24.0.2.9.1 -- Students will apply principles of information systems organization to a variety of print and non-print resources.

24.0.2.9.2 -- Students will routinely and efficiently, use online information resources to meet the needs for research, publications, and communications.

24.0.2.9.3 -- Students will access specific information from print and non-print resources by using internal organizers (e.g., indexes, cross-references).

The following topics are covered in the Library Orientation: a facility tour; library procedures/policies; identification and location of available print resources, acceptable computer use, on-line services via the library home page, and introduction to available search engines.



Students in the library orientation program will develop the ability to:

-- Follow library procedures/policies,
-- Use the library home page effectively,
-- Access available search engines.



All students will:
-- Receive a tour of the library,
-- Review library policies/procedures,
-- Receive instruction on the library home page,
-- Be introduced to available search engines.



Students will engage in research projects and/or follow-up activities provided by their English and other subject area teachers.
