This unit emphasizes the research and development of a personal, effective, and original theme, the development of multiple works related to a specific theme,
the concept that each piece develops and grows from the previous completed work of art, the exploration and use of various techniques and materials to bring out a desired effect, the exploration and creation of unique compositons and the use of space, and the exploration of styles and periods of art.

When students are creating a body of work related to a theme, they will develop the ability to:
-- research and develop a working theme,
-- create several pieces of work based on one theme,
-- write and record the process of their experience,
-- work with a chosen technique and media to best express their concentration,
-- demonstrate proficiency in compositon and drawing.

All students will:
-- apply thinking processes in organizing knowledge and ideas to communicate visually,
-- demonstrate a srong proficiency in drawing media and techniques,
-- demonstrate good compositional skills,
-- respond to and receive feedback on their own work,
-- produce a body of work related to a theme of choice.
