1. What makes a creative and effective experience with figure drawing?
2. How does one proportionately draw the figure?
3. How does the use of a variety of media effect the expressive quality of the figure?

This unit emphasizes developing proportion and the position of a figure, gesture drawing, illustrating the illusion of weight, drawing from a model, and a variety of drawing techniques and media

When students are drawing from a figure, they will develop the ability to:
-- apply expressive lines,
-- apply the techniques of sighting, scale, and proportion,
-- demonstrate a variety of materials and media,
-- illustrate the illusion of weight in relation to the figure.

All students will:

-- draw the figure from a model in various positions,
-- demonstrate a proficiency in drawing media and techniques,
-- observe and communicate the figure as expressive subject matter,
-- work with the proportions and scale of the figure,
-- respond to and receive feedback on their own work.

1. Homework is used as a formative and summative evaluation tool.
2. Quizzes and tests are used to access concrete information such as vocabulary, equipment use, and procedures.
3. Project evaluations may take the form of group critiques, rating scales, checklists, written evaluations, and teacher interviews.
4. A portfolio demonstrates skills learned and personal, aesthetic growth. The body of work stands as a visual record of the creative process experienced throughout the semester.
5. Group discussions give insight into the creative process and problem solving, providing an avenue for learning, how to talk about art, how to view art, and how to improve one's skills.
