400 This unit emphasizes the principals of design, the elements of art, positive and negative space, focal point, movement , balance, and variety.
500 When creating compositions  in Art 1, students will develop the ability to:
500 -- utilize diferent media in accordance with the intended message,
500 -- apply the elements of art: line, value, color, texture, shape, and space,
500 -- apply the principles of design: emphasis, rhythm, repetition, balance, movement, unity, harmony, variety, and pattern,
500 -- apply the ideas of negative and positive space,
500 -- define the picture plane.
