This unit emphasizes learning cutting and pasting techniques-knife, scissor, and glues, learning folding techniques-pop-ups and origami folds, book-making techniques, package design, and craftsmanship.

When learning cutting and pasting techniques, students will develop the ability to:
-- apply safe cutting and gluing techniques,
-- effectively/efficiently use cutting and gluing tools and materials,
-- understand and apply folding techniques-pop-ups and origami folds,
-- use book-making techniques,
-- explore package design ideas and techniques.

All students will:
-- demonstrate an understanding of the creative process,
-- demonstrate an understanding of the elements and principles of art,
-- demonstrate an understanding of cutting, measuring, and gluing techniques,
-- demonstrate an understanding of good visual design,
-- recieve feedback on their own artwork,
-- be involved in group discussions of their work,
-- be required to communicate ideas through writing,
-- be instructed on the effective presentation of their work to a group.

1. Project evaluations may take the form of group critiques, rating scales, checklists, written evaluations, and teacher interviews.
2. Group discussions give insight into the creative process and problem solving, providing an avenue for learning, how to talk about art, how to view art, and how to improve one's skills.
