Students will
1) demonstrate proficiency of note reading both in bass clef and trebble clef
2) demonstrate proficiency of basic ryhthm reading both in comound and simple time
3) demonstrate proper execution of, recognize, and describe basic dynamic markings
4) display propper performance tehcniques on thier focus instrument
5) Define, react to, and discuss the following vocabulary workds: key signature, staff/grand staff, scale, note hear, stem, flag, flat, sharp, half step, whole step, natura, time signature, bar line, measure , double bar line, repeat sign, breath mark, ledger line, crescendo, diminuendo, staccato, legato, accent, tie , slur, forte, piano, accidental, solo, unison, scale, bass clef, trebble clef



practice counting rhythms and reading notes on a daily basis
practice independantly and through private instruction on a focus instrument
study one major composer each week from the "meet the composers" book
perform music with correct dynamic and articulation markings
