Students will learn and expand upon the proper techniques for: 400 *Diaphragmatic breathing 400 *Correct singing posture 400 *Vowel shapes and production 400 *Procedures to achieve healthy, uniform choral diction 400 *Producing a warm, round tone in the singing voice 400 *Navigating through the different vocal registers 400 *Extending the singing range 400 *Using the body's natural resonators and articulators 400 500 The student will: 500 *Demonstrate an understanding of diaphragmatic breathing 500 *Demonstrate an understanding of healthy, uniform choral diction 500 *Compare and contrast breath support and breath control 500 *Explain the importance of blend and balance within a choral ensemble 500 *Demonstrate proper posture for singing 500 *Demonstrate an understanding of performing with uniform vowels and consonants 500 *Demonstrate an understanding of tone quality by singing with a characteristically warm, healthy sound 500 *Explain the different vocal ranges and what techniques are helpful when navigating thought them 500 500 600 Each day in glee club, the student will: 600 *Sing a variety of vocal warm-ups designed to expand their range, teach proper vowel formation, strengthen breath support and control 600 *Focus on singing with uniform vowels and consonants as an ensemble 600 *Incorporate skills from vocal warm-ups into daily rehearsal of repertoire 600 *Focus on blending within their vocal section and balancing their sound with the ensemble 600 *Participate in daily class discussions on progress made within the rehearsal. Suggestions will be given by the students as well as the teacher on how to improve upon the sound production 600 600 *Students will participate in a minimum of 3 concerts a year: Winter, Spring and End of the Year 600 700 Students will be assessed by the following means: 700 * Aural assessment by both teacher and student 700 *Oral discussion on improvement of tone quality using proper musical terminology 700 *Written quizzes explaining the process of diaphragmatic breathing, breath control and breath support as well as how vowel shapes affect tone quality. 700 *Visual assessment on proper singing posture 700 *Students will participate in a minimum of 3 concerts a year: Winter, Spring and End of the Year 700
