300 What is intonation?
400 The concept of "intonation" or "tuning" is one that is perpetually adressed both in the concert band and in the symphonic band.  This concept is introduced for the first time, in the "tuning" unit in Concert Band.  Through this unit students will learn:

400 1) How the size of an instrument effects the sound/pitch

400  2) What the correct tuning process in during our everyday rehearsals and at      performances

400 3) The tuning tendancies of ones own instrument

400 4) The effect of "out of tune playing"

400 5) How to adjust ones own instrument to be " in-tune"

400 6) Propper breath support and adjustments needed to play all notes in-tune, not just      the one tuning pitch.
