How do DNA, gene, RNA, protein, and expressed characteristics relate?
How does probablility relate to Mendelian genetics?
What are the various modes of heredity?
What are the patterns for genetic problem solving?

1. Relationship of heredity and environment in determining characteristics
2. Mendel's initial crosses, using pea plants, leading to the four major Laws of Genetics
3. Basic genetic terms: Phenotype, Genotype, Homozygous, Heterozygous, Allele
4. Genetic probability using Punnett Squares
5. Modes of Heredity: Autosomal, Codominance
6. Discussion of a variety of human genetic disorders

Students will develop the ability to:
1. Appropriate use of genetic terms,
2. Apply principles of genetics to determine the probable outcome of a variety of genetic crosses. Include all representative modes of heredity,
4. Relate meiosis and gamete combination to variation within a species,
5. Discuss various genetic disorders and their development and heredity patterns.

1. probability analysis using laws of probability and punnett squares

Objective/subjective testing (40:60 percentage)
Cooperative activities
Student facilitative instruction
Discussion regarding genetic technology/eugenics
