Students in Broadcast Production Technology will develop the ability to:

--Identify general planning of productions and how to gear productions towards intended audience,

--Develop an efficient use of sources (people, supplies, location),

--Develop brainstorming techniques using CMap Tools,

--Design and use the storyboard concept,

--Plan a shot and shoot to edit,

--Plan and obtain audio sources that fit with the production,

--Identify and understand general copywriting skills in the television field.





All students will:

--Be exposed to various forms of persuasion,

--Use brainstorming techniques and software to formulate production ideas,

--Confidently use the storyboarding concept in productions,

--Be able to gather and correctly choose sound bytes for specific productions,

--Be able to start to function in specific roles in a group as a group.




The student will be able to demonstrate proper planning techniques for a production.

The student will be able to demonstrate the ability to function as part of a production team.

Broadcast Production
1 minute informational/Advertisement clip


1. 1-minute informational/Advertisement clip. Required time is 1 minute. 1 stand-in required. Script, storyboard, prop list are required. Piece will be viewed by whole class and critiqued. Limit Team of 3.


The purposes of this exercise are as follows:

1. Learn how to develop a preplan or script
2. Learn how to set shots (shoot to edit)
3. Learn how to add sound tracks
4. Learn how to use different tools specific to the program
5. Learn how to edit
6. Learn how to prepare set and props


You will be evaluated on the following points:

1. Description of project and storyboard(s) 20 points _____
2. Clear audio
(No unwanted background noise, even levels between scenes, etc.) 20 points _____
3. Crisp video (no washouts, focus, composition, etc.) 20 points _____
4. Printed script, prop sheet, lighting grids 10 points _____
5. Proper time 10 points _____
6. Saved in AVI format on video server 20 points _____
