Students in Broadcst Production Technology will develop the ability to:
--Identify various unique sound conditions,
--Identify different microphone configurations and where are they used,
--Equalize sound through the camera, the mixing board and the equalizer,
--Understand the physical limitations of hard wired versus transmitted sound,
--understand the difference between balanced and unbalanced sound.

All students will:
--Be able to identify various styles of microphones,
--Be instructed in the use of the wired and wireless microphone systems available in the lab,
--Use the mixing board,
--Use the non-linear audio mixing software,
--Mic various different sites for proper sound.

The student will demonstrate the knowledge of various microphone configurations and usage through varied recordings.
The student will demonstrate how to use the digital audio mixing software by inputting sound in one format and outputting in another onto a cd or dvd.
The student will be able to produce a clear, distortions free audio recording of any assigned subject.
An example of a grading rubrics is as follows:
#5 – 50 second news story
This will be a 50 second news story on something unique to this area that a person across the state might find interesting. It will include one stand-in, footage pertaining to the story, a clear concise voiceover, and a closing with still of 10 seconds.
The production team will consist of a cameraperson, and reporter. External mics can be used, neat clothing will be worn and proper lighting will be used. All scripting, storyboards and prop sheets must be completed and approved before taping.
The purposes of this exercise are as follows:
1. Learn how to develop a preplan or script
2. Learn how to set shots (shoot to edit)
3. Learn how to add sound tracks
4. Learn how to use different tools specific to the program
5. Learn how to edit
6. Learn how to prepare set and props
You will be evaluated on the following points:
1. Description of project and storyboard(s), script PREAPPROVED
