Students in Broadcast Production Technology will develop the ability to:
--Identify different advertising techniques,
--Storyboard an advertisement or news broadcast,
--Write a script,
--Work with the more technical aspects of the studio environment,
--Experiment with different camera angles and audio techniques.

All students will:
--Be exposed to various forms of mass media and its affects on what we do in every day life,
--Be involved in storyboarding a news broadcast,
--Be exposed to information gathering and script writing for stories in a news broadcast,
--Be exposed to various advertising techniques,
--Experiment with different camera angles and audio techniques to relay various messages in advertising.

The student will be able to describe targeting techniques.
The student will be able to demonstrate how to properly use a video camera.
The student will be able to effectively produce a news broadcast.
An example of a grading rubric is as follows:
10 minute Chroma Key
This will be a 10 minute chroma key production that will show different aspects of how chroma key is used. You are to place yourself in a scene that does not normally happen in real life (in space, on water, in a beehive, etc.). As you are in this “space”, you will be describing where you are and what you are doing.
What is key to this production is how seamlessly you will fit into the scene and how smooth the production can go. You can get the background video on line (music videos, car races, bike racing, etc) or make your own.
Final finished piece will be placed in folder as an avi. Scripts, prop sheets, video sources will all be listed and made into a neat, typed packet. No more than two to a group.
The purposes of this exercise are as follows:
1. Learn how to develop a preplan or script
2. Learn how to set shots (shoot to edit)
3. Learn how to add sound tracks
4. Learn how to use different tools specific to the program
5. Learn how to edit
6. Learn how to prepare set and props
You will be evaluated on the following points:
1. Pre-approval to include script, props, lighting 30 points _____

(No unwanted background noise,
even levels between scenes, etc.) 10 points _____
3. Crisp video (no washouts, focus, composition, etc.) 10 points _____
