1. How can students progress, develop, and advance arithmetic computations to the abstraction of arbitrary values (e.g., variables)?
2. How can students use functional relationships to successfully represent and analyze patterns?
3. How can students express quantitative relationships to make application-based connections and, ultimately, simplify calculations?
