WA Hires Baseball Coach

WOODSTOCK — Charlie Kozey has worked as an assistant to baseball head coaches Bernie Norman, Dave Austin and Mike Scrapchansky at Woodstock Academy.

Now, he figures it’s his turn.

Now, he figures it’s his turn.

Woodstock interim athletic director Jon Grossman announced on Wednesday that Kozey will take over the baseball program this spring.

“The timing is right and it felt right,” Kozey said. “There are a lot of new things at the Academy and it’s fun to be a part of it.”

Kozey, a 1978 graduate of Woodstock, has been an assistant coach for the last seven years. His appointment means Woodstock now has a full complement of coaches for the 2012-13 school year.

“We wanted to make sure that everything was in place for the new athletic director when that happens,” Grossman said. “They won’t have to worry about hiring, but will just be able to hit the ground running and manage the athletic program.”
