History of Bracken Memorial Library

History The original Bracken Memorial Library building was presented to the Board of Trustees of the Woodstock Academy in memory of native son and Academy alumnus Howard Webster Bracken with the stipulation that the library serves the general public as well as the school. |
Sited on the west side of the 1873 Academy Hall, the original Library building served the community until 1992, when the entire Academy went under extensive renovation. The new library is now situated in the renovated Ely Ransom Hall Memorial Gymnasium. The library again underwent a major transformation in 2007 with the completion of the mezzanine expansion project. |
