The Woodstock Academy offers opportunities for all levels of student-musicians, from beginners to the experienced. A faculty of dedicated musicians mentor students through courses covering technique and fundamentals, theory, performance, technology, music history, the music industry, and more.
Throughout the year students perform in The Woodstock Academy’s own venue, the Loos Center for the Arts, as well as an outdoor pops concert in nearby Putnam. Each year the entire department travels to a special festival destination such as Walt Disney World or Québec.
Academy musicians and ensembles are invited to perform in regional and national festivals. Academy ensembles have been selected as an opening act for Pentatonix, for holiday performances at the Connecticut governor's residence, and as a guest pep band for Division I women’s basketball tournaments.
Set up to succeed
An on-campus recording studio, music production lab, piano lab, and dedicated chorus and band classrooms provide the tools and setting for student musicians to flourish.
The music department is a community of hundreds of student-musicians with unique talents and interests, so there are always new student-led activities and ensembles where students share the common language of music.
