The Woodstock Academy Music Department offers opportunities for all levels of student musicians. Our highly-trained faculty of dedicated musicians mentor students through courses covering technique and fundamentals, theory, performance, technology, music history, the music industry, and more. We feature award-winning ensembles and individual musicians, including those who have been accepted into All-State, All-New England, and All-Eastern regional honors choirs and bands.
PerformancesThroughout the year, students perform in The Woodstock Academy’s own venue, Loos Center for the Arts, and an outdoor Pops concert in nearby Putnam. Each year the entire department travels to a special festival destination such as Walt Disney World or Québec.
Academy musicians and ensembles are invited to perform in regional and national festivals. Academy ensembles have been selected as an opening act for famed a capella group Pentatonix, for holiday performances at the Connecticut governor's residence, and as a guest pep band for Division I women’s college basketball tournaments.
Set up to succeedAn on-campus recording studio, music production lab, piano lab, and dedicated chorus and band classrooms, in addition to our state of the art Loos Center for the Arts, provide the tools and setting for student musicians to flourish.
CommunityThe music department is a community of hundreds of student-musicians with unique talents and interests. Among several ensembles there are more than two dozen student leaders, elected by their peers and trained by our faculty to set the standard of excellence and support new students as they share the common language of music.
