Canvas is a learning management system (LMS) that allows teachers to provide instructional support, class calendars, assignments, and resources for students in a safe online environment. Used in conjunction with PowerSchool, The Academy hopes that this resource will provide you with specific information about your student's curricula so that you have a better idea of the work that teachers and students are doing.
What is a Parent Observer Role in Canvas?
The parent is considered an "Observer" in Canvas and has read-only permission to see what is going on in a course.
What can Parent Observers view in Canvas?
Below are the features available to Parents. Please note that not all courses use all features.

Creating Your Account
Navigate your web browser to wa.instructure.com or, using the mobile app, click the "Find my School" button and search for "The Woodstock Academy".
Fill out the Parent Signup form as requested.
- The "Student Pairing Code" is a 6-digit code provided by your child, and can be found from the child's Canvas Account from Account > Settings > Pair with Observer
*Parent/Guardian Tip: If you choose to download and install the Canvas Mobile App, we recommend turning OFF push notifications. Please be aware that keeping push notifications turned on might give you access to your child's work prior to your child being informed about them. This can be distracting for both students and parents alike. We recommend logging into Canvas together to review your child's activity.
