October 2023 Alumni Spotlight
Hometown: Pomfret, CT
WA Class of: 2016
Best WA Memory: I loved being on the cross-country team at WA-running down Old Hall Road and seeing all the fall colors change and going with my cross-country girls to get apples and apple cider donuts after a really hard run.
Favorite Teacher: I really loved connecting with my Spanish teacher, Senora Thibodeau. We still keep in touch!
After Graduation: I got my B.A. in Hispanic Studies with a minor in Biological Sciences at Connecticut College, I won a Fullbright Fellowship and lived in Spain, and then I got my M.S. in Global Public Health at Brown University.
Today: I’ve just accepted a position as program officer at JSI, a non-profit organization in Boston, where I’ll be managing global public health projects. I will be apartment hunting in the greater Boston area soon!
WA Takeaways: At The Woodstock Academy, you’re exposed to so many different people. I learned how to be friendly with everyone and be able to adapt to any social or academic situations.
Advice for Future Centaurs: I think you really have to take advantage of the fact that there’s a lot of freedom in your schedule at The Woodstock Academy. The rigor of the classes can be college-like, and a lot is expected of you. You can either use that to your advantage or let it get the best of you. I would encourage them to explore those difficult classes, especially if they want to go further with it in college.
