Currently Living In: Woodstock Valley, CT with my wife Sarah (Douglas) Rich ’15 and our dog Trixie
WA Class of: 2015
Best WA Memory: I have a lot of great memories running on the cross country and track team with my friends.
Favorite Teacher: My favorite class was biology with Mrs. May. Not only did it spark my passion for genetics, but we were the pilot class for iPads!
After Graduation: I attended the University of New Hampshire, where I received my Bachelor of Science in Genetics. I then attended the Massachusetts General Hospital’s Institute of Health Professions for my Masters in Genetic Counseling.
Today: I work as a licensed Genetic Counselor at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts, where I specialize in rare pediatric diseases and high-risk pregnancies. In my spare time, I serve on the Board of Trustees at WA and still enjoy running. I just ran the Hartford Marathon this past fall.
WA Takeaways: My time at WA taught me soft skills like time management and organization. These types of skills are often overlooked but I think that they are what helped me to be successful.
Advice for Future Centaurs: Take advantage of all the opportunities that WA has to offer. It is just as important to figure out what you don’t like as it is to figure out what you do.
