Weekly Announcements: April 22-26

Graduation Information Guide

Graduation is quickly approaching! To help members of the class of 2024 and their families and friends plan for end-of-year activities leading to graduation on Saturday, June 8, we have created a guide of important information to review. This information can be found in the MyWA Student Dashboard under Senior Information, or by clicking here.

If there are questions, please do not hesitate to contact Karin Hughes (khughes@woodstockacademy.org) and/or Holly Singleton (hsingleton@woodstockacademy.org).

In addition, a $20 donation to support our Model UN program will enter you into a graduation seat lottery! Enter for your chance to win premium seats at commencement. Every $20 donation equals one (1) entry. The number of entries per person is unlimited. If commencement is outdoors, the winner will receive six premium seats. If indoors, the winner will receive four premium seats. Please contact Sara Dziedzic with questions (sdziedzic@woodstockacademy.org).

Tobacco Survey: May 9 Advisory

The Tobacco Research in Youth Group at Yale University School of Medicine is conducting an anonymous survey as part of a research study to understand more about adolescents’ use of and perceived risk for different types of substances. The survey focuses on tobacco products (e.g. cigarettes, e-cigarettes), but there also are some questions about alcohol and marijuana.

This survey is open to all students and will take no more than 20-30 minutes of your child’s time. It will be administered at school during Advisory on Thursday, May 9.

If you DO NOT want your child to participate in this study, please email Dana Cavallo of Yale University at dana.cavallo@yale.edu. If we don’t hear back from you by May 5, we will assume that your child has permission to participate.

There are minimal risks/inconveniences associated with participation. Although this survey will not benefit your child personally, we hope that our results will add to the knowledge about substance use among youth.

We will make every effort to ensure your child’s confidentiality. We will not collect any information from your child that will make it possible to trace his/her responses back to him/her.

If you have any questions about the study, please contact one of the study personnel:

Dana Cavallo, Ph.D.
dana.cavallo@yale.edu

Suchitra Krishnan-Sarin, Ph.D.
suchitra.krishnan-sarin@yale.edu

If you would like to talk with someone other than the researchers to discuss problems or concerns, to discuss situations in the event that a member of the research team is not available, or to discuss your rights as a research participant, you may contact the Yale University Human Subjects Committee at (203) 785-4688 or human.subjects@yale.edu.
