NGSS Testing for Juniors

The state of Connecticut requires science testing under the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) for all students in grades 5, 8, and 11. We will be testing all juniors who took a science class during the fall semester during Blocks 1 and 2 next Friday, February 10. Testing rooms will be on North Campus.

If you did not take a science class in the fall, you will take the test at the end of May.

Please keep an eye out for a second email later this week with your room assignment and testing time. Remember, testing is on your iPad, so make sure you have it with you (and it’s charged!).

Be sure to update your iPad before Friday, February 10 to the latest version of iOS (16.3) to avoid incompatibilities with the testing app.

Update your iPad wirelessly:
1. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
2. Go to Settings > General, then tap "Software Update."
3. Tap "Install Now."

Please contact Dr. Harten with any test questions at mharten@woodstockacademy.org. If you need assistance updating your iPad, please contact technology@woodstockacademy.org.

Virtual Family Night

Please join us on Thursday, February 9, at 7:00 p.m. for a Virtual Family Night via Microsoft Teams. At this event, parents and guardians have the opportunity to attend mini sessions of each class on their student's schedules, meet faculty, and learn more about each course. We encourage parents and students to attend together. However, parents who are not physically with their students will receive an emailed class invitation from their student's teacher.

For students who have alternating Day A/Day B classes (P.E., Health, some Art 1 classes, and music ensembles), the Day B session starts 10 minutes into the period. Teachers will end sessions a few minutes early to give time for transition to the next class.

Virtual Family Night Schedule:

7:00-7:20 Block 1 (Day A until 7:09; Day B: 7:11)
7:25-7:45 Block 2 (Day A until 7:34; Day B: 7:36)
7:50-8:10 Block 3 (Day A until 7:59; Day B: 8:01)
8:15-8:35 Block 4 (Day A until 8:24; Day B: 8:26)

Please get in touch with Assistant Head of School for South Campus John Rigney with any questions at jrigney@woodstockacademy.org.

We can't wait to see you online!

Semester 1 Report Cards

First-semester report cards are now available for all students and families on the PowerSchool Public Portal. This report card should serve as an official report card for any purposes you need. To view the report card, once logged into the portal, click “Student Reports” on the Navigation menu located on the left of the screen.

Honor roll status is based on the earned quarter 2 grades.

Please note that the report card is only available from the PowerSchool Portal, not from the PowerSchool App. Although the PowerSchool App does a good job of showing a snapshot of information, its features are limited. The Public Portal is the only way to see report cards; it is also the only place to see a specific breakdown of student fees.

Click here for instructions if you have not yet created a PowerSchool account.

If you have any questions about accessing report cards, please email technology@woodstockacademy.org.
