New England cross-country: Menounos finishes 51st

Woodstock Academy sophomore Christian Menounos got his first taste of competition from not only within, but also from outside Connecticut, on Saturday.

Menounos didn’t have to travel far, going just over the Rhode Island border to Ponaganset High School to compete in the New England boys cross-country championship.

He acquitted himself well as he finished 51^st out of 260 runners.

Menounos was just 10 seconds off his State Open championship time of the week before, crossing the line in 16 minutes, 50 seconds.

The sophomore was the first from Woodstock Academy to compete in the New England championship since Kevin Graham in 2004.
