iPad Setup

Great! We've confirmed your myWA account is activated.

Follow the steps below, in order, for a quick & smooth iPad setup.

Step 0. Before we start.

step_0

a. During setup, orient your iPad vertically as opposed to horizontally.

Some setup prompts may not appear correctly in horizontal orientation.

Step 1. Language, Country, & Region

a. Select "English"
b. Select "United States"

Even if English is not your primary language, you should choose English to help you become immersed in the language.

Step 2. Appearance

a. Choose one of the options (we recommend "default"); then
b. Select "Continue"

You can easily change this setting later, in settings.

Step 3. Quick Start

a. If you are prompted by the "Quick Start" screen, Select "Set Up Without Another Device" on the bottom of the screen.

It is important that you do not use another device to set up your WA iPad, or the setup may not complete as expected. It should be configured exactly following these steps to ensure proper use.

Step 4. Wi-Fi

a. Find and select your home Wi-Fi network; then
b. Enter your Wi-Fi password; then
c. Tap Join in the top right.

When you come to campus for the first time, we'll provide instructions on how to connect your iPad (and personal devices) to WA-Secure.

Step 5. Log in

After connecting to Wi-Fi, your iPad will activate. After completing this, you will be presented with the Remote Management screen.

a. From the Remote Management overview screen, select Enroll This iPad; then
b. Click next then Log in with your myWA SSO (Single Sign-On) credentials.

Your myWA SSO (Single Sign-On) credentials are used to log into every system at The Woodstock Academy. Generally speaking, your username is first initial + last name + grad year + "@woodstockacademy.org" (ex. esample2029@woodstockacademy.org) refer to your tech welcome letter for more info.

Step 6. Passcode

After logging in with your myWA SSO credentials, your iPad will install the configuration profiles required for use. After this is completed, you will be presented with the Create a Passcode screen.

a. On the Create a Passcode page, type a 4-digit (or longer) passcode* to be used every time you unlock your iPad; then
b. Tap Next in the top right; then
c. Confirm the passcode you created in Step 1 by retyping; then
d. Tap Next in the top right of your screen

Passcodes cannot have repeating numbers, ascending, or descending numbers. Make sure to set a passcode others won't be able to easily guess. Everything that happens on/to your Academy-issued iPad is your responsibility. By default, 6 digits is required, but you can change to 4 characters by clicking "Passcode Options."

Step 7. Automatic Updates & Location Services

a. On the "Keep Your iPad Up to Date" screen, tap Continue on the bottom of the screen; then
b. On the "Location Services" screen, tap Turn On Location Services
on the bottom

Disabling Location Services will prevent the clock from updating correctly on your device. The Academy can monitor your iPad's location whether location settings are enabled or disabled. Any time The Woodstock Academy accesses your device's location, a full-screen notification will appear which can only be dismissed by your passcode.

Step 8. Wait...

a. Your iPad will continue to self-configure; downloading apps and configuration profiles for the next five to ten minutes. Do not open any apps or change screens until a prompt appears!

This step relies entirely on your at-home internet speed. If you do not see apps downloaded and a prompt to "Edit Settings" within 15 minutes, contact the Information Technology office using the contact information at the bottom of the page. Do NOT go ahead with this step without completing it.

Step 9. Edit Settings

a. If the "Edit Home Screen" prompt appears, tap "Dismiss"; then
b. When the "Enter the password for the Exchange account" prompt appears, tap "Edit Settings"; then
c. When the "Settings Wants to Use microsoftonline.com to Sign In" prompt appears, tap "Continue"; then
d. Log in with your myWA SSO account; then
e. Return to the home screen

Every time you enter your myWA password, you should ALWAYS see The Woodstock Academy logo & "myWA" on the page.  If you don't see both of those, you may be entering your information into a phishing site. Immediately stop, don't enter your password, and contact the IT Office.

Step 10. Outlook

a. From the home screen, open the Outlook app; then
b. Tap Add Account on the welcome screen, then Add Account a second time; then
c. Tap OK on the prompt that says "Your organization is now protecting its data in this app..."
d. Proceed to step 11. OneDrive (You do not need to re-start the Outlook app, its setup complete)

Outlook is The Woodstock Academy's email client. Your email should be checked regularly for important messages from The Academy's teachers & staff.

Step 11. OneDrive

a. From the home screen, open the OneDrive app; then wait
b. App should auto-log in after a few seconds. Once logged in, return to the home screen

OneDrive is your Academy provided cloud-storage. Each user receives 1TB of cloud storage for Academy files.

Step 12. Canvas

a. From the home screen, open the Canvas app; then
b. Tap Find my school on the welcome screen; then
c. In the "Find your school or district" search bar, type "wa" (no need to search for "The Woodstock Academy") and hit go; then
d. Tap "Student/Employee"; then
e. Tap "Allow" on the notifications prompt; then
f. Choose theme preference; then return to home screen.

Canvas is The Academy's LMS (Learning Management System). Canvas is used for homework, classwork, & exams, as well as a general gathering place for important class documents like course syllabus.

Step 13. PowerSchool (Students Only)

a. From the home screen, open the PowerSchool app; then
b. Tap "Allow" on the notifications prompt; then
c. In the DISTRICT CODE boxes, type F-J-L-S and tap CONTINUE; then
d. Select "I'm a Student" and follow the prompts to continue signing in; then
e. Return to the home screen

The PowerSchool app is your one-stop app for current grades, course schedule, quick-glance views at dining balances & student account fee balances.

Step 14. Check for Updates (Employees & Students)

a. From the home screen, open the Settings app; then
b. From the left menu panel, tap "General"; then
c. From the right menu panel, tap "Software Update"; then
d. Download and Install any available updates. If "iPadOS is up to date" displays; then
e. Return to the home screen

WA routinely updates the minimum supported version of iPadOS. If your iPad is detected as running an outdated/non-supported version, apps will be hidden. It is recommended to check for updates at least once a month, although keeping automatic updates "On" (as set in step 5) should keep your iPad compliant.

That's it — iPad setup is now complete! Make sure to fully charge your Academy-issued iPad bring it to campus daily.
