History of the Senegal Exchange Program

The Woodstock Academy’s connection with Sénégal began as a passion of French teacher Merry Burke, who frequently taught about francophone countries in her classes. Through Mme Burke’s efforts, in collaboration with Academy teachers Jayne Collins and Rich Telford, and former Academy teachers Paul Cunningham and Kim Jalet, the Sénégal Exchange has brought Academy students to Sénégal since 1998. Each exchange is the culmination of three years of preparation and fundraising.
